Dress Code

Many schools have already adopted a dress code for students, but schools in Waterbury, CT have also adopted a dress code for teachers! What are your thoughts? Should teachers be required to wear certain things like the students? If so, what should teachers wear?

I think if students are forced to follow the dresscode than teacher should have too also. They should be forced to wear something with the schools logo on it at least twice a week

I agree with Isaiah. It's not a matter of spite, but I do believe students would resist the dress code less if we see that the adults comply with it too. Our school would look more uniformed and teachers' clothing would be much less of a distraction to the learning environment.

Interesting. Sarai, what do you find so distracting about teachers' clothing? You don't need to name people or get too specific, but I'm very curious!

I personaly do not really care about the dresscode. I feel that since w have to wear a uniform, students should just wear it and wear it right. students walk around school mad because they got kicked out of class, if they wear it right they won't get kicked out.

If everyone was in a uniform than maybe the students wouldn't fight against it so much. You hear alot of students talk about how it's not fair that the teachers don't have to wear the uniform. If the teachers were in the uniform than they would have less to complain about. It may make the teachers job easier.

Yes i do think teachers should have to wear uniforms because it would make the school look more united. I think the uniforms should be the same but a different color with the word teacher big across the back.

Miss Montano, Some teachers' clothing is a distraction when it is not fashionable and can become a topic of discussion. Also, some of the younger female teachers wear clothes sometimes that are too provocative and attract inappropriate attention.

Sarai, what are students claiming to be "provocative"? As a teacher, I personally love wearing khakis and a polo...it's less to think about at 4:45am!

I think it's great that you do that Miss Montano. You did say no names. I have a few examples of teachers/staff who "do a bit too much" when it comes to school attire. They look like they aren't even in a professional setting.

I think this is a good thing to do because it won't let the students have something to complain about and is fair to both students and teachers

I think that teachers should have a dress code because I think they should look nice because when they step in and out of that building they are representing our school. I think they should wear business attire and no sneakers or too short skirts or short.

I agree with Isaiah i feel that teachers should wear the uniform because if we have to suffer they should to. This should be a school wide dress code.

I feel that teachers should not have to have a specific set dress code because they are tax payers and they are grown adults. They should know by this point in their life that to be taken seriously you should present yourself professionally. I do not like the idea of teachers coming to school and dressing as if they do not take their job seriously.

@Allison I highly disagree with you because regardless if they are tax payers or not they should follow the same rules that we have to follow along with dress code.
