The SAT scores for our school are horrible. Should parents, students or teachers be held responsible though? I really wonder what makes our students produce an average score that is as low as that of innercity schools. This is a poor representation of our school system. Everyone needs to take accountability and realize that after graduation, there is and always wil be competition from all over the world. There is life outside of this small community and we must fight to measure up and succeed!
I don't think the SAT scores are a good way to rank students. Some students don't test well and get low scores but have high school grades. Still we have to do good on the SAT to get into college. Bloomfield does have bad SAT scores but we aren't the only school. This is why it is important to do good in school so that if you can show colleges you are smart.
I feel that out SAT scores could definatly be way better. I believe that some main influences that cause us to have low test scores is that children come to school because they have to not because they want to. This makes our school look bad as a whole and it reflects on our current principal who is currently doing everything in his power to make a positive change in our school system. Parents need to be more involved in their child's academics so that it will help our test scores and keep the children focused.
I agree with every one on their previous posts. In my point of view SAT's shouldn't be something to look at for acceptance into college.SAT's are standardized tests, in which you aren't really tested on what you learned in your previous years at an educational institute, giving an unfair chance at success. Personally, I am a great student but my SAT's are on the low side. Which doesn't mean to me that I can not excel in a higher learning institute. But, to a college who primarily looks at SAT scores, that may be a problem.
I think that people shouldnt be rated by sat scores. Some people arent good taking long tests so they dont do so well. Also people just might not like to apply themselves during tests but are very smart.
The SAT scores in Bloomfield are not the best scores. I think we can do better than what we are doing now. But for them to rank us based on our SAT scores, is not the best option. There can be alot of people who are smart and get good grades but when it comes to take a test there not really good in test taking.SAT is a very big test and you need it for colleges yo accept you so it makes it hard on the student and puts stress on them.
Hi, this is Judy Arzt, and please don't post this comment. I am just writing to say I am pleased to see you are maintaining this blog with your students and coming up with provocative comments. Keep in touch emailing me at jarzt@sjc.edu
i believe SAT scores are horrible in Bloomfield because SATs is not our school main focus. We have a harder time trying to get our fellow seniors to pass the CAPT than we do anything else. Yes some students are bad test takers like myself but the SAT classes are no help either. I have personally tried both SAT classes and i found them unhelpful and I knew i was not going to be able to learn everything I need for the SAT in a few weeks. I think if the school system was better and would teach us what we need to know then maybe we would have better scores.
i believe SAT scores are bad in Bloomfield because SATs is not our school main priority. also we are not well prepared for it we the students have to prepare our selves.
The SAT scores for bloomfield are bad and we all have the potential to make them be better but i believe this school is more worried about sports than studies.
some students need to get theirn priorities in order and parents need to be more supportive nowadays.
@John i do not think that sports is our main priority because if so all of us would have been in sports, and I think that the teachers at our school are more focused on people passing the CAPT more than anything else.
