Almost everyone is going to college today. People realize how important education is to obtaining a career and making sufficient funds for a living. The world is a competitive place and people are willing to seek higher education to survive. I know for sure that a mere high school education does not have as much a value without a college degree following it. To me, this just means I have to work harder.
Everyone is trying to college now because if you don't you can't go nowhere. Even if you just go to community college it is important. In CT alone there was a big increase with just 5.7% of that in commmunity college. The economy is bad and you need to work hard to get a job. If you don't go to college you won't get a good job.
A lot of students if not all who graduate from high school look into obtaining a degree of some sort from a 4 year college or university. People do this because they are not only aware of the great need for a degree but, may also want to have the college experience. Now, in 2010 people are competing for jobs and every year it gets harder and harder for new comers to get a decent paying job and to hold on to it.
Many people are attending college now. The society is becoming more competitive with jobs and everyone needs a job to be able to support themselves. The more you know the more money you make.
As much as a am elated that people are starting to take education seriously and strive for I am also slightly nervous. More people are applying for college so that makes it more competitive to get in (darn). Also the article is absolutley right in the aspect that many older people are enrolling in school now. We are in a time where your classmate and study buddy can be a 50 year-old woman. Colleges are seeing a huge influx of applications from various ethnic groups and age groups. Not only will we see an increase in college application competition, the job field will be even more competitve. More people are going for degrees so more people are becoming qualified for the jobs. Now, it is not as simple as "This person has a degree and this person does not". Its, " These two people have the same degree, now how has that something extra. People are going to have to work ten times harder to get jobs now because of the high enrollent for college... darn.
These days if you dont go to college, you cant even work at Mcdonalds. So college is almost a must. if you dont think you can get into a four year college you shud go to community college because the more education you get the more you get paid...
Everything relies on you going to college and getting either your bachelor's or masters. People are realizing that college is almost mandatory to get a job and without some form of college education nobody would look twice at you. Success is very important and the only way to get it is to work hard when you are in school. Most people are trying to stay in a in-state college because it is cheaper and with the economy the way it is now it is even harder to get accepted into local colleges. Even community colleges are being filled annually.
I have definitely notice how student are trying to stay close. I somewhat undersatnd with how the economy is and it being more affordable but i think it is better for kids to go away for college that is when kids grow up and become adult.
education is very IMPORTANTim sure people realize that now. but all you can to do is try your best and reach for the stars. you gotta struggle for your reward, as my dad use to always say. lol unless you have magic, college is the door to success
@Vanessa I agree with you because college is the only key to success at the moment. without it you cannot get any where in life and you are right without magic or a whole bunch of money you need education to survive.
This is a chance for students in Miss Montano's classes to ask questions, post comments, keep up with current events and post your own creations. View this as an extension of the classroom, but with more opportunities to be involved!

This means less kids well be able to enroll into the state schools. So we are forced to pay that out of state tuition.
